MoovieMe Minor Content Policy
MoovieMe allows users to create collaborative movies from photos, videos, audio, and other media. Because MoovieMe may be used for weddings, birthdays, family gatherings, sporting events, school activities, concerts, community events, travel, and other real-world experiences, minors may naturally appear in content uploaded to the Service.
This Minor Content Policy explains how MoovieMe handles content depicting or containing information about minors and describes additional protections that may apply to that content.
This Policy supplements the MoovieMe Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and other applicable policies. If this Minor Content Policy provides greater protection for minor-related content than a more general MoovieMe policy, we may apply the more protective rule where appropriate.
1. What We Mean by “Minor Content”
For purposes of this Policy, “Minor Content” means photos, videos, audio, metadata, or other information that MoovieMe knows or reasonably determines depicts, records, describes, or otherwise contains personal information concerning a person under 18 years of age.
Minor Content may include, for example:
- a child appearing in a wedding video;
- footage from a birthday or family gathering;
- youth sporting-event footage;
- school or extracurricular-event footage;
- a minor appearing in the background of an event;
- a minor’s image or voice;
- dialogue or narration spoken by a minor;
- media metadata associated with footage depicting a minor; or
- information identifying or describing a minor within a Story.
The presence of a minor does not necessarily mean that the minor is a MoovieMe user or account holder.
2. Minors May Appear in MoovieMe Content
MoovieMe permits appropriate content depicting minors when users have a legitimate reason to upload, process, share, or preserve that content.
Examples include family events, weddings, graduations, sporting events, performances, school-related events, and other ordinary personal or community activities.
The person uploading or publishing Minor Content is responsible for ensuring that they have the authority, permission, or other lawful basis necessary to upload, share, or publish that content.
Uploading content to MoovieMe does not eliminate or override the privacy, publicity, safety, or other rights of a minor depicted in that content.
3. Accounts Held by Children
This Policy distinguishes between:
- an adult or other authorized user uploading content in which a minor happens to appear; and
- MoovieMe knowingly collecting personal information directly from a child who is using the Service.
MoovieMe is not intended to knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 unless MoovieMe has specifically implemented an experience that complies with applicable children’s privacy requirements, including any required parental notice and consent.
Children under 13 should not independently create or operate a MoovieMe account unless MoovieMe expressly permits such use through an age-appropriate and legally compliant process.
The age eligibility requirements applicable to MoovieMe accounts are further described in our Terms of Service.
If MoovieMe learns that it has collected personal information directly from a child in a manner inconsistent with applicable law or our policies, we may restrict or terminate the account and delete or otherwise appropriately handle the affected information.
4. Identifying Minor Content
MoovieMe may designate content as containing or potentially containing minors so that additional privacy and safety protections can be applied.
A Minor Content designation may result from:
- information supplied by the uploader, host, or contributor;
- a user report;
- moderation or safety review;
- contextual information associated with a Story; or
- automated systems designed to identify that content may contain a minor.
A Minor Content designation is intended to enable safety and privacy protections.
MoovieMe does not need to determine a person’s precise age in order to designate content as potentially involving a minor.
5. AI Analysis of Minors
MoovieMe may use artificial intelligence and automated systems to process Minor Content where necessary to provide the movie-creation functionality requested by users.
For example, MoovieMe may detect that a person is present, understand the structure of a scene, analyze dialogue or narration, identify relevant events, arranging clips, or determine how footage may fit into a Story.
MoovieMe does not intend to use Minor Content to determine the real-world identity of a minor through facial recognition.
MoovieMe does not intentionally use Minor Content to create biometric identity profiles or to classify minors according to characteristics such as:
- race or ethnicity;
- precise age;
- attractiveness;
- facial emotion or emotional state;
- gaze;
- health status; or
- similar sensitive personal or demographic characteristics.
MoovieMe may use contextual descriptions of a person’s role in an event, such as “player,” “attendee,” “performer,” or similar event-related descriptions, where useful for understanding or editing the Story.
These contextual labels are intended for Story and video understanding and not to establish a minor’s legal identity or demographic profile.
6. Faces and Voices
MoovieMe’s systems may detect that a person appears in a photo or video and may distinguish people within the context of a Story for purposes of editing and event understanding.
MoovieMe does not use this functionality to match a minor against an external identity database or determine the minor’s real-world identity.
MoovieMe may also detect speech, dialogue, narration, or spoken words contained in Minor Content where necessary to analyze or edit a Story.
MoovieMe does not intend to create voiceprints for identifying minors or to identify a minor’s real-world identity based on their voice.
7. Location Information Associated With Minors
Minor Content may contain location information, including:
- GPS or EXIF metadata embedded in uploaded photos or videos;
- information supplied by users about where an event occurred;
- venue information;
- approximate network or IP-derived location; or
- other contextual location information.
Because location information associated with minors may be particularly sensitive, MoovieMe may limit, remove, obscure, or decline to publicly display precise location information associated with Minor Content where appropriate.
Making a movie or post publicly visible does not necessarily mean that underlying precise GPS or EXIF metadata will also be made publicly visible.
8. Private Stories and Minor Content
Minor Content uploaded to a collaborative Story is not automatically public merely because it has been uploaded to MoovieMe.
Authorized Story participants may be able to view Minor Content according to the Story’s permissions.
This may include the Story host and other contributors who are permitted to view contributed clips.
Hosts may have additional administrative access to Story content, including the ability to view, manage, remove, or download original contributed media as described in MoovieMe’s Privacy Policy and applicable Story disclosures.
Participation in a Story does not automatically make Minor Content available to the general MoovieMe community.
9. Public Profiles, Explore, and Publishing Minor Content
MoovieMe includes or may include social features such as public Profiles, Explore, Posts, comments, reactions, followers, and other discovery functionality.
Minor Content is not automatically published to these public or social areas merely because it exists within a Story.
Publishing a completed Moovie or other eligible content to a public profile or Explore experience is a separate action from uploading source footage to a private collaborative Story.
Where a user chooses to publish content containing minors, MoovieMe may apply additional safeguards, notices, confirmations, visibility restrictions, moderation, or other protections.
MoovieMe may prevent, restrict, remove, or change the visibility of publicly available Minor Content where we determine that doing so is appropriate to:
- protect the privacy or safety of a minor;
- respond to a parent or guardian;
- comply with applicable law;
- enforce our Terms or policies;
- respond to a safety or abuse report; or
- address circumstances in which continued public availability creates an unreasonable risk to a minor.
MoovieMe may also limit comments, reactions, recommendations, searchability, sharing, or other social functionality involving particular Minor Content where appropriate.
10. Public Profile Status Does Not Automatically Publish Source Footage
A user’s decision to maintain a public MoovieMe profile does not automatically cause all raw photos, videos, audio, or Story contributions associated with that user to become public.
Underlying source clips, Story workspaces, AI analyses, transcripts, contributor materials, and other project information remain subject to their own Story and content permissions.
Only content intentionally published or otherwise made available through MoovieMe’s social features becomes eligible for the corresponding audience.
11. Advertising Involving Minors
MoovieMe does not intend to use Minor Content to create behavioral advertising profiles about minors.
Minor Content will not be intentionally analyzed for the purpose of determining a minor’s sensitive characteristics so that advertisements can be targeted to that minor.
Where applicable law requires consent or prohibits particular advertising practices involving children or teenagers, MoovieMe will apply the required protections.
The existence of advertising on a free MoovieMe subscription tier does not by itself authorize MoovieMe or an advertising provider to use Minor Content for personalized advertising or tracking.
12. AI Training and Model Improvement
Uploading Minor Content to MoovieMe for the purpose of creating a Story or movie does not automatically make that content eligible for generalized AI training.
Minor Content is excluded by default from ordinary optional programs through which users contribute private content to train or improve generalized MoovieMe models unless MoovieMe determines that the content is eligible for the proposed use and obtains any authorization required by applicable law and the relevant program terms.
Where content has been identified or tagged as Minor Content, MoovieMe may automatically prevent that content from entering generalized model-training datasets unless additional review or authorization requirements have been satisfied.
Processing Minor Content to create the movie requested by the user is separate from using that content to train models for future users.
13. Commercial Data Licensing and Sale
Minor Content is not automatically eligible for MoovieMe’s commercial data-licensing, dataset-sale, third-party AI-training, or similar data-contribution programs.
Content tagged or otherwise known to contain minors will be excluded by default from ordinary commercial data-licensing programs.
MoovieMe will not treat an adult uploader’s ordinary agreement to create a MoovieMe Story as blanket authorization to commercially sell or license the personal information, image, voice, likeness, or other protected information of every minor depicted in that Story.
If MoovieMe later offers a program under which eligible Minor Content may be included in commercial datasets or disclosed to third parties, MoovieMe will establish additional eligibility, authorization, consent, notice, and other safeguards as required before permitting that use.
Where applicable law requires parental, guardian, or minor consent for the sale, sharing, disclosure, or commercial use of a minor’s personal information, MoovieMe will obtain the required authorization before engaging in that activity.
14. AI and Cloud Service Providers
MoovieMe may use cloud, infrastructure, artificial-intelligence, storage, security, and other service providers to process Minor Content on MoovieMe’s behalf.
MoovieMe intends to use contractual and technical controls designed to prevent ordinary private customer content, including Minor Content, from being used by those providers to train their generalized AI models unless MoovieMe has specifically authorized that use and the underlying content is eligible for it.
Provider personnel may have limited access to information where permitted by applicable agreements and reasonably necessary for purposes such as technical support, security, service reliability, incident investigation, abuse prevention, or legal compliance.
MoovieMe does not intend to enable optional provider dataset-sharing or generalized training programs using Minor Content unless the content has been separately determined to be eligible for such use.
15. Host Responsibilities
A Story host may have administrative control over a Story containing Minor Content.
Depending on the applicable Story functionality, a host may be able to:
- view contributed source clips;
- download original clips;
- remove clips;
- remove contributors;
- manage Story access;
- initiate processing or rendering;
- determine whether a finished movie is shared or published; and
- exercise other administrative controls described in MoovieMe’s policies.
Hosts are responsible for exercising these capabilities appropriately when Minor Content is involved.
A host’s administrative authority over a Story does not give the host authority to waive a minor’s independent legal rights or the rights of a parent or guardian where applicable.
16. Contributor Responsibilities
Contributors should upload Minor Content only when they have a legitimate reason and appropriate authority to provide the content to the Story.
Contributors should not use MoovieMe to upload, request, distribute, or publicly expose content involving minors in a manner that is exploitative, abusive, invasive, unlawful, or inconsistent with MoovieMe’s Community Guidelines.
Other authorized Story participants may be able to see contributed clips, displayed contributor identities, comments, reactions, votes, and clip-request activity associated with the Story.
17. Clip Requests Involving Minors
MoovieMe may permit Story participants to request particular footage from other participants.
Users must not use clip requests to solicit inappropriate, exploitative, sexualized, invasive, dangerous, or otherwise harmful footage of minors.
MoovieMe may remove a clip request, restrict an account, suspend a Story, or take other appropriate action where clip-request functionality is used in a manner that could endanger or exploit a minor.
18. Prohibited Minor Content
MoovieMe prohibits using the Service to create, upload, request, possess, distribute, promote, or facilitate content that sexually exploits or abuses minors or otherwise violates applicable law.
MoovieMe may immediately remove content, restrict access, preserve information where legally required, suspend or terminate accounts, or make legally required reports to appropriate authorities or organizations when we reasonably believe such action is required.
This prohibition applies regardless of whether the content is public, private, shared through a Story, or transmitted through another MoovieMe feature.
19. Parent and Guardian Requests
A parent, legal guardian, or other person legally authorized to act on behalf of a minor may contact MoovieMe regarding content in which the minor appears.
The requester does not need to create a MoovieMe account solely to submit such a request.
A request may concern, for example:
- removal of a photo or video;
- removal of a minor’s voice or other personal information;
- restriction of public visibility;
- deletion of information;
- removal from Explore or a public Profile;
- concerns regarding location information;
- concerns regarding AI or data use; or
- other privacy or safety concerns.
MoovieMe may request information reasonably necessary to:
- locate the relevant content;
- identify the minor involved;
- verify the requester’s identity or authority where appropriate; and
- prevent fraudulent or abusive removal requests.
MoovieMe will attempt to collect only the information reasonably necessary to process the request.
Where possible, verification information collected solely for the purpose of confirming identity or authority will not be retained longer than necessary for that purpose.
20. How MoovieMe May Respond to a Minor Content Request
Depending on the circumstances, MoovieMe may:
- remove source media;
- restrict access to the affected content;
- make a post private;
- remove a post from Explore;
- disable sharing;
- disable a shareable link;
- remove or restrict comments;
- exclude media from future Re-Cuts or Re-Generations;
- remove associated derived data;
- create or require an updated version of a movie;
- de-identify information;
- preserve information where legally required; or
- take another action appropriate to the circumstances.
A request does not necessarily require deletion of an entire collaborative Story where the privacy concern can reasonably be addressed by removing or restricting the affected material.
21. Existing Rendered Movies
If Minor Content that becomes subject to removal has already been incorporated into a completed Moovie maintained by MoovieMe, MoovieMe may restrict the affected version and create or require an updated version that excludes the affected content where appropriate.
MoovieMe is not necessarily required to rerun the entire AI-generation process when a more efficient technical method can appropriately remove affected material.
Removed source content will not be used in future renders, Re-Cuts, or Re-Generations.
22. Downloads and Copies Outside MoovieMe
MoovieMe may be able to remove or restrict content that remains under MoovieMe’s control.
However, MoovieMe cannot guarantee that it can retrieve or delete copies that another person previously:
- downloaded;
- exported;
- screen-recorded;
- copied;
- independently stored;
- posted on another service; or
- otherwise distributed outside systems controlled by MoovieMe.
Users should take this limitation into account before sharing or publicly publishing content involving minors.
23. Retention of Minor Content
MoovieMe does not intend to retain Minor Content indefinitely merely because the content was once uploaded.
Minor Content remains subject to MoovieMe’s defined media-retention schedule and may be deleted earlier where required by applicable law, a valid deletion request, the applicable Story settings, or this Policy.
Different retention periods may apply to:
- original source clips;
- compressed or transcoded media;
- extracted frames;
- transcripts;
- AI analysis;
- rendered movies;
- thumbnails;
- deleted Stories;
- security and diagnostic logs; and
- backups.
Where applicable law requires MoovieMe to retain children’s personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, MoovieMe will apply that requirement.
Deleted information may remain temporarily in encrypted backup systems until it is removed through MoovieMe’s normal backup-rotation process, subject to applicable law.
24. Derived Data
Deleting Minor Content may also require MoovieMe to delete, restrict, or de-identify information derived from that content where appropriate.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
- extracted frames;
- transcripts;
- scene descriptions;
- person references;
- event classifications;
- editing metadata;
- AI-analysis results; or
- other information that remains identifiable to the affected minor.
MoovieMe may retain limited information where necessary to document a privacy request, prevent deleted material from being inadvertently restored, maintain security, comply with law, or establish that particular content must no longer be used.
25. Schools, Teams, Clubs, and Youth Organizations
MoovieMe may be used in connection with sporting events, performances, school activities, clubs, camps, or other events involving groups of minors.
The fact that an event occurred at a school, sports organization, or youth organization does not itself establish that the person uploading the content has permission to publish or commercially use the content.
Users and organizations are responsible for obtaining any permissions required for their use of MoovieMe.
MoovieMe may establish additional organization-specific controls or agreements where the Service is intentionally offered to schools, youth organizations, or similar institutions.
26. Reporting Minor Content
Users and non-users may report Minor Content they believe:
- violates this Policy;
- exposes a minor to an unreasonable privacy or safety risk;
- was uploaded or published without appropriate authority;
- contains sensitive location information;
- is exploitative or abusive;
- violates applicable law; or
- otherwise requires review.
Reports may be submitted through MoovieMe’s in-app reporting functionality or through the contact method identified below.
MoovieMe may prioritize reports involving the safety or exploitation of minors.
27. Blocking and Safety Controls
MoovieMe may provide users with tools to:
- report content;
- report accounts;
- block users;
- restrict interactions;
- control profile visibility;
- control post visibility;
- manage followers or friends;
- disable or restrict sharing; and
- manage other privacy and safety settings.
MoovieMe may take additional action where necessary to protect minors, including restricting accounts or content beyond the settings selected by a user.
28. Commercial and Promotional Use
Uploading Minor Content to create a personal or collaborative movie does not automatically authorize MoovieMe to use that minor’s image or likeness in MoovieMe advertising, promotional campaigns, testimonials, public marketing materials, or similar promotional uses.
Any materially different promotional use involving identifiable Minor Content will be subject to additional review and authorization where appropriate.
29. Changes in Technology
MoovieMe’s AI and media-processing functionality may evolve.
If MoovieMe introduces materially different functionality involving minors—such as facial recognition, voice identification, biometric profiling, precise age estimation, emotion recognition, or other sensitive person-level analysis—we will evaluate the applicable legal and privacy requirements and update our disclosures, safeguards, and consent practices before deploying that functionality where required.
30. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Minor Content Policy as MoovieMe’s features, practices, technology, or legal obligations change.
If we make material changes to the ways Minor Content is collected, used, disclosed, sold, shared, or otherwise processed, we may provide additional notice or obtain consent where required.
The current version of this Policy will be made available at: Minor Content Policy.
